How Burnout Leads to Nervous System Dysregulation
It is important that we work to keep ourselves grounded and regulated as we navigate each day. In today’s society, it is easy to fall into the trap of working relentlessly and pushing ourselves to the point of exhaustion and burnout. Burnout leads to a dysregulated, highly stressed nervous system. Taking care of ourselves and our capacity for regulation needs to take priority. Without a healthy, regulated system, are we even functioning? Preventing burnout is especially important for parents and educators, as well as those of us who are in the caring profession. We cannot support and co-regulate with others if we do not know how to self-regulate and practise self-care.
